Why is it Special?
Inspired by the melting ice of Lapland, Finland, “Ultima Thule” is an iconic, all-time favourite. The pattern on the glass is formed by the process of the glass burning the wooden molds. Thousands of hours were spent perfecting the glass-blowing technique required to produce the "icicle" effect. This set was originally designed by Tapio Wirkkala for FinnAir in 1968. Each piece features three small glass “feet” which prevent them from toppling over during airplane turbulence.
