This is the whistle only for the iconic kettle by Michael Graves. This purple basketball player was Virgil Abloh's re-interpretation of the classic bird whistle.
The 3909 kettle mixes different cultural aspects: the phenomenon of basketball and its multicultural imagery, an integral part of Virgil Abloh's personal history, with the world of design and its codified references. The whistle is completely redesigned, taking the form of a basketball player who crushes with power to the basket, while the colours of the handle and the knob are lit with an intense purple.
It's no surprise that the Alessi Kettle with Bird Whistle has sold more units than any other item in Alessi history. Designed by Michael Graves in 1985, the Alessi bird kettle has a youthful personality and a simple geometry, allowing it to heat faster than other kettles thanks to its tapered stainless steel body and spout. The bird spout cheerfully whistles when the water has reached a boil.
